Disco Balling!

Disco Balling!

So let’s see where things stand since we last posted fairly regularly. A lot of ups, a lot of downs, the wheels on the bus go round and round.

I am sitting in Saks Fifth Ave in the prom dress area on 4 as I write this. Took a moment to pause the rat race and am listening to my friend DJ Vidal spin classic hits by Madonna, George Michael and Hall and Oates, blended flawlessly with modern hits by Beyonce, Niki Minaj and more, thinking back over 18 years of my life and forward to what and where the next 18 years will bring.

There is so much to be grateful for in life. Oh snap! Lisa Lisa/Cult Jam “Take You Home!” You go girl!!! Perfectly timed right into “Let the Music Play!”

That’s exactly what I mean right there. We get so caught up in the constant strive for greatness, sometimes we forget to stop and enjoy the view, smell the roses or in this case, listen to the music. When we forget to do that, we make it a struggle rather than the joyful journey that it’s meant to be!

It’s been a long time since I have contributed on a regular basis. If it takes me slowing things down a bit and enjoying the groove a bit more, then so be it. I finally realized that, there’s no need to rush life along. Nobody gets out alive anyway, so we may as well slow things down a bit and enjoy the ride as we go along.

DAY-UM!!! Now I’m getting some Rufus and Chaka Kahn “Do you like what you feel?” I sure do!

Grab that ring in life. Enjoy it along the way as well. We are all one people!

Caught up in the rapture?

Okay, I have been away for a while.

Life threw me more than I could even write about.

It is what it is so I let it do what it do for a few.

In the meantime, there was all of this talk about the rapture and what would happen on May 21st at a certain time on the face of the Earth.

You peep that pic above? How could you not right?

There’s a long story behind it but I’ll keep it simple for you. The caption to the left reads, “Master the illusion”.

We have all been deceived and had wool pulled over our eyes for way too long. I have always been a believer in everything happens for a reason. There is a reason that I saw this today after my blog hiatus. In the blog-o-sphere, it may as well have been a Osama-Bin-Laden hiding or a kidnapping.

I didn’t go anywhere, I was just mastering my force and those illusions. We are all still here. Dude must be tight he spent his life savings on a PR campaign at the end of the day. Him and Osama and Barack Obama are all celebrities if you really evaluate the supreme mathematics of it all.

The amount of related links is testament to how powerful the campaign was. If only I could get a campaign like that going for Manhattan Real Estate, I could change the world we live in before the next doomsday!

There are many places we can all go. It is up to us where we all decide to go on our own roads. I am following that blue light onwards and upwards. There is a yin and yang to the life we live in and we all need to embrace both sides of that “coin”. Fear is only here to keep us from advancing. The purpose of life is to advance.

The name of my blog is “Hat Man CAN Do”. So if it is what it is, then let it do what it do.

Ad on and build if you feel…

Spring has sprung! Crave outdoor space? The Hatman CAN Do It!

Not a fire escape

Even without trying, I ALWAYS end up finding great outdoor spaces for my people. I love grilling and chilling and usually, people who do gravitate to me as well. Out of 100 apartments available in any budget, I have a knack for showing the best four or five right away. What the heck are you paying me for anyway?!!!

This is a super value. At $2100, the rent is actually quite low for the area and outdoor space. This amount of outdoor space is actually quite hard to find, but here it is. The location is what everyone looks for. Details are below on the listing.

Located on one of the Villages most desirable and beautiful blocks, just steps to Union Square, restaurants, NYU, shopping, Washington Square Park, & all subway lines. This Charming loft studio is peaceful and quiet with an amazing large private outdoor space that is as big as the apartment itself. Other features include high ceilings, an open kitchen with breakfast bar, new stove and refrigerator, A/C, wall of closets and bike storage. The elevator building is perfectly maintained, has a live-in super as well as a central laundry room making this unique apartment the perfect place to call home. JULY 1ST OCCUPANCY.

Where would you live in NYC if cost was no object?

April 19, 2011 1 comment

There are many places one can choose to live. Aside from budget, every area has it’s pro’s and cons to consider.

Let’s place the budget aside and focus on the aesthetics for a moment. What areas of the city have always intrigued you and made you say “one day, this will be my neighborhood”.

There has always been high demand for areas downtown. The town house architecture as well as the tree lined and even cobblestone streets of the West Village have a certain “sunday brunch” feel in that area. The east village tenements and many bars and lounges invoke artictic creativity. The exclusivity of Gramercy Park and the key, make block beautiful a popular choice.

There is Battery Park City for those seeking river views and a short walk to work downtown, but not the cold business like feeling of Fi-Di. Tribeca for a loft lover looking to enjoy the great eateries. How about the Upper East Side for walks along museum mile. The Upper West Side for those arts lovers who frequent Lincoln Center.

This city has a cornucopia of great areas to consider and we all need to live somewhere. To give you an idea, many celebrities are in all of the neighborhoods mentioned if that has added value. Leo and Tyra are in BPC, David Wright is in Flatiron, Jimmy Fallon resides in Gramercy and Joan Rivers is even the head of her Upper East Side co-op’s board. Perhaps knowing that your favorite celebrity is in an area makes for added value when you consider who your neighbors are.

The architecture is unique in each neighborhood and that also needs to be considered. Both with the buildings as well as with the lay of the land. Crave tree lined streets? The Upper West Side and Greenwich Village are focal points. Is subway access for 15 minute trips anywhere key? Columbus Circle and Union Square have multiple train lines intersecting for maximum access to the city.

Is it all about the space within your living space? Then that opens up the entire city as there are huge lofts downtown, classic six and combined units uptown (East and West) and whole brownstones or penthouse lofts in new developments in Harlem.

To cover all of this city can be time consuming and frustrating when you get too many cooks in your kitchen. Many agents focus on specific areas and really don’t know all of the city well enough to add value. If they haven’t lived it, they really can’t know it.

I know this city better than most having lived in many areas. If you need a taste of the finest in many areas, reach out to me. As the site’s name states, the hat man can do!

Blue Skies

This is a great image to head into the weekend with in our minds.

I love the spring and summer as it is a time of hope. There are many places one can think to live in NYC. the most in demand areas are Gramercy, Union Square, Chelsea and the Village. The blend of subway access, tons of restaurants and shops to discover, a hip crowd and the feeling of safety due to so many people constantly around enjoying the area gives a fresh feeling.

There are many tree lined and even some cobblestone streets in the West Village. New York is often thought of as a building of huge skyscrapers, but being in these areas gives a glimpse into New York’s past and a more warm and serene feeling amidst the hustle and bustle found in midtown.

The high demand and low supply of housing here makes for an interesting dynamic. The market rate rents are higher than most of the people looking can afford. The best “deals” are often still way higher than anywhere else in the city. People still will line up and often, if a place is solid enough in terms of location, quality and space, people get very creative in figuring out a way to secure it.

There is nothing better than the right location in this city. People travel as much as two hours each way to commute into Manhattan to earn a higher salary. There are things we all trade off on to live here. Some prefer to get a lower cost of living for better space and quality. While others pay premium for the best possible location and as a result, feel that the quality of life is improved.

While I can’t say which way is right for your particular situation, I can definitely find the best in either respect if you need to move. The sun is shining, let’s enjoy it!

Everybody is blogging, are you?

April 3, 2011 3 comments

I started my first blog back in 2007. I knew that people were making money and becoming overnight sensations from blogging but was really just aiming to provide better value for my real estate clients. It could be a central place online (before cloud) for documents, information and pictures without the need for a slew of questions and emails. My writing itself is decent, but I really had no clue of what I was doing in a “blogging” sense.

So here it is four years later and Perez Hilton is a household name, blogging for dollars is a household source of employment for many and I am still writing. I have heightened my focus with my writing now and have several blogs, each is tailored for a specific niche and one is of a more personal perspective. It is a process of growth and development that is quite rewarding for me. I learn, apply and learn and reapply on a daily basis. It’s actually self fulfilling as the more I write, the more I learn.

I have joined some groups and tribes and while still a “newbie” I can see the great opportunities that this presents. It is great knowing that there are people out there on the same path, perhaps a bit further down the road or even at the finish line cheering you one. It’s like an online version of the NYC Marathon. Remember the Starsky and Hutch remake to hit theaters year’s back? Instead of just my pal Johnny saying it to me, I have found a virtual nation of people saying “DO IT-DO IT-DOOOO IT!”

This brings me to the title question. Are you blogging? If so, what about? How often do you write? What do you do to keep motivated and break any writers block? There is a wealth of information out there and with it, the food for thought is endless. Did you ever hear the tale of Thor drinking from the horn when challenged by Utgard-Loke? He drank long and heartily three times from the horn, but each time he drank, when he set the horn down, it was barley empty. Turns out it was a clever deception as the horn was attached to an ocean and so it would refill. Thor angrily stopped after the third swig.

That’s kind of how it feels. It was not that Thor was a light drinker, but he was fooled by deception and illusions. Well unlike that guy, I am not getting mad about it. If this horn keeps filling from the ocean, I guess I’ll just drink a Norse God with a movie coming out this summer under a table! The real irony is that I actually met a guy named Thor one night in the east village (he even had a hammer pendant on his neck!) and we played a drinking game called Captain Pat. I’m still here and haven’t seen or heard from him since I became a general that night.

Don’t tell me there is a shortage of things to write about. I am just getting started after doing it for four years. So come and drink with me and don’t set the horn down. As the title reads, I am blogging are you?

This is a long shot here. But I think Cuba Gooding Jr may actually resurrect his career with this role!

Check out the trailer and offer feedback.

Aside from that quick hit, get your shields, hammers, invisible planes and lasso’s because this is the season of the super hero! Captain America, Thor, and even a Wonder Woman pilot! http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/18/wonder-woman-adrianne-palicki-photo/

There are plenty of mainstream and independent films coming this year. Go watch some movies!
